UpTown Mixer - First time's a charmer!

I have recently signed up on this web site and attended my first Uptown Mixer last night. I arrived right around 3 PM and already there were many people there. I introduced myself to Eric Standlee, having recognized him from his web site photo. He was engaged in a business meeting, but promised to chat with me later. Cyndi Gutowski, my first "friend" on the web site recognized me from my web site photo and greeted me warmly and enthiastically. I met many great people and had several interesting conversations. Several people were specifically helpful to me. Since I am marketing an online project management application, one contact told me he had a client that was looking for such an application, and that he would review mine for the purpose of presenting the option to his client. Other marketing and media promotional and advertising people shared valuable information witl me. One person, also interested in project management let me know of a meeting of the local Houston PMI (Project Management Institute) which was meeting at 5:30 PM. I left early at 5 PM to make that meeting, but by the time I was ready to leave, the Mixer had filled the room to capacity and expanded to the outdoor tables surrounding the venue, and those tables were quite full.

Although the Mixer's schedule is listed as 3 PM to 8 PM, previous attendees say that many are still there at 10 PM! I can only immagine how things must have progressed after I left - people were steadily streaming in as I left. I never had contact with Eric before I left (he is a VERY popular man!), but perhaps we shall chat soon.

Bottom line - I was very impressed and will be attending more in the future! I would highly recommend attending to anyone who wants to expand their network!
