“The reason success is considered a secret is that it remains an enigma. It seems that there are very few people who are willing to put forth the effort to get from where they are to where they want to be. Most make excuses and blame others for their own poor choices. The biggest secret (and the biggest obstacle) to success is you, there's a big difference in knowing what to do, and doing it.” -From Jeffrey Gitomer's internationally syndicated column Sales Moves

I read the above quote from Jeffrey Gitomer, a major sales trainer in the US, and had to share it. He and other major luminaries are telling us that there is no magic pill. We have to take action to get where we want. Whether it’s more sales, higher income, lower weight, or whatever else you want to achieve.

But first, we have to realize that we have limiting beliefs that hold us back. It’s our own thoughts that put the fear of taking action. We worry about "what happens if" and most of the time those "if’s" don’t occur. We think that we have to “get our ducks in a row” before we can do something; that we have to learn a special skill before we try that special something. We hold ourselves back from doing something. Anything.

I’ve been guilty of looking for that magic pill - of trying to get ready before I can do something, of trying to learn something perfectly before I put it to work. I’m pretty darn sure most of us are guilty of that. And yes, planning is a must, but we overdo it to the point we don’t put our plans into action. Ever seen that happen?

The good thing is that awareness is the first step to solving any problem. So I hope that you, as I, have started to realize that we are the ones that limit ourselves and success is reachable, however we define success. Ask yourself "what massive action have I taken today to truly move myself and/or my business to the next level?" And by “massive”, I mean something that if it takes hold will propel you and/or your business to huge heights. Be honest, did you do something BIG, or did you just stay busy?

I look forward to seeing a lot of you at the next InHouston meeting on Marhc 11th at the Tasting Room and by the way, please link to me as a friend here at Ning and LinkedIn at http://www.linkedin.com/in/luisidrobo.
