Bizzy Women Fashion Show
Lights Camera Action ( a multimedia production site tracking the South Asian scene in Houston, Texas was proud to present the second in a series of fun filled mixers called Bizzy Women on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Poshak Boutique, Hillcroft, Houston, Texas.

Ruchi Mukherjee is a Houston based freelance TV Asia Journalist/ Host of Lights Camera Action hosted the event which aims to highlight a woman owned small business. This mixer highlighted fashion designer Sameera Faridi.

Each event provides an opportunity to mix, mingle, dress up and be photographed. The idea is to have fun while at the same time help each others business goals. Surprises await at each mixer.

Poshak began to broaden its portfolio of clients and expanded its Pakistani fashion presence in USA . In 1996 the business started its overseas expansion by establishing the Poshak Fashion & Style stores in the United States .

In the early 2000s Poshak Fashion & Style opened its store in Dallas , TX , USA . Poshak was relocated to Houston by Ms. Sameera Faridi after she completed her degree in Fashion Design in 2004. Faridi was appointed as the director/designer of the company, she has won many awards and has been recognized for:

* ‘Best of Show Award’ in 2004 by Chich Streak Fashion Show
* ‘Best Fashion Student Award’ in 2004
* Paticipated in ‘Houston Fashion Weekend’ by A-List Models, benefiting United Way, Texas Gulf Coast in 2006

* Participated in ‘Fashionably Loud’ as one of the 5 upcoming designers in Houston

This chic fashion mixer was a full house with a fashion show as the main highlight of the evening. Guests also enjoyed complimentary tasty bites by Mezzban and tiramisu cupcakes provided by Madhavi Gokhale of Desserts ‘n’ More, a specialty home based dessert company that caters special occasions, that are simple yet delicious, made with only the finest ingredients. Local radio host Samia Adil emceed the event with poise and grace.

Present at the event HCC fashion , Tanaz Choudhry who recently made a debut as a fashion designer showcasing her line at Tootsies, Reji Josheph, Houston Young Professionals for Arts’ Committee member Mahek Shah, Shawn Broussard from Health and Fitness Magazine, and many others. “This is a lot of fun as these mixers attract the younger generation with a whole new concept of themed parties for the South Asian community,” Sameera Faridi.

“I love the theme Bizzy Women mixer. What a great way to mix mingle and promote each others business. Lights Camera Action has been a great medium to promote the Houston community and it manages to cover a wide range of events” says socialite and businesswoman Tanaz Choudhury. Local model Nara Lakhani thoroughly enjoyed the event and believed that Houston was in much need for such fashionable events that aims to highlight women owned businesses. “What attracted me for the evening was pure fun and the focus being on some quality South Asian fashion.” says Mahek Shah.

“I’m endlessly thrilled to find and create these unique platforms for women owned businesses in fashion, beauty, and lifestyle,” added Ruchi M. “Being in the media adds a lot of benefit to the businesses that are being highlighted at my ‘Bizzy Women’ Mixers as it provides a platform and draws a lot of publicity,” she added.
