RV Travel Life | Houston

[  About Us  ]
We are Hebard’s Travels, we travel the country fulltime in our RV. We have a 2016 Cedar Creek 36CKTS which fits our two large dogs, Bullet and Kimber, and our cat Socks. We downsized our lives from 3000sqft house to 350sqft home on wheels. We enjoy a more minimalist lifestyle and focus on experiences rather then stuff.

John is a 3x War Veteran, he has always been interested in finding ways to help veterans cope with PTSD and feel better living in the country they fight so hard for. He loves being able to share the things that have helped him deal with issues of coming home. Traveling and living this lifestyle has been a complete blessing in his ability to adjust to a healthy living. If you think this could help another veteran, please share it with them.

We experienced some crazy Alabama weather before leaving for Texas which delayed our travel by a day. I (Laura) finished up at the dentist and went to meet up with John and the 5th wheel in the parking lot of Lamberts. Within an hour of meeting back up the skies got darker and the wind picked up. We were hoping to get a couple hours of driving in but the storms were already there. We were under tornado watches all night, and one tornado warning which we left to take shelter in Home Depot (it was the closest building to us), with the dogs.

We got permission to stay at Home Depot that night, and we left early in the morning. We had heard taking I-10 would be terrible for the RV and a really rough ride so we headed north to I-20 and back down to Houston at Longview, Texas.

We stayed at Fallbrook RV Resort in Houston and arrived just intime to experience the 7 degree weather overnight. I was able to meet with my family and take my grandpa to Debakey VA Hospital.
