We used the occasion of Strictly Street Salsa’s monthly social to form a special dance circle for our good friend Carmen Mancini, who had worked in Houston for two years but was scheduled to move back to her home country of Italy just a couple of weeks later.
These types of dance circles in the Salsa community are usually formed to mark somebody’s birthday. However, since this would be Carmen’s final Social for an indefinite period of time, we wanted to do something special for her to let her know that she would be dearly missed.
Carmen had been a student of the regular social dancing instruction from SSS, as well as attending several Rueda workshops. Her warm smile and great dance energy had become regular fixtures that we always looked forward to seeing.
The song that we used for this dance is “Salsa Italiana” by El Rubio Loco.
