John from http://www.growingyourgreens.com/ goes on a field trip to Harvest Green, a Master Planned Community centered around a community farm and growing food in the Houston Texas Area.
In this episode, John shares with you a new type of master-planned community that is based around an on-site farm that grows food for the community and allows homeowners to grow their own food.
You will discover more about this agricultural neighborhood model that is now popping up in cities across the United States.
You will learn how homeowners can grow their own food, with optional raised beds that can be built in their backyard or in community garden area of the farm.
John will then take you on a tour of the farm to show you what it looks like and what is growing after about 1.5 to 2 years in being in production growing food.
You will see the fruit tree orchard, community gardening area, the raised bed garden area, production field of vegetables, as well as chickens and goats first hand so you can make your own determination if Harvest Green is just “Greenwashing”
Finally, John will sit down and share his comments, thoughts, and suggestions about this farm.
After watching this episode you will learn more about new master-planned communities known as agrihoods and what to look for if you are considering purchasing a home in one of these communities.
