NSTA Quarterly Forum – Wednesday, August 18, 2010 “The Future of Media in an Interconnected Digitized World”
Panelist: Steven Kay
The upcoming panel discussion centering on the topic of “The Future of Media” will feature four dynamic professionals who know the world of media across every genre. One of those specialists is a rising star on the horizon of media’s impact in the future. He’s Houston’s own Steven Kay, who is president of Steven Kay Media.
Steven Kay specializes in radio program production and placement. Specifically, he produces radio talk shows. He knows how to fit a certain kind of program to the demographics of its intended audience. His growing empire of radio stations that he represents with programming and sponsors stands at nearly a dozen, including Talk 650, KTRH 740 and Radio MoJo The 9-5-0.
Currently, he co-hosts the "TALK 650 Morning Show" with Brent Clanton, every Monday - Friday from 7am-10am.over TALK 650 KIKK-AM. Concerning the future of radio, Steven says, “"Today's world of global web connection has really changed traditional radio as I see it. Today, you can literally broadcast to the world from your car -- LIVE! In 20-30 years, I see radio really going mainstream in ways never imagined. The whole relationship between broadcast ‘professionals’ – the actual business of radio itself – and the vendor, the advertiser, will change dramatically.
“Personally, I think radio will become more personal to the listener, who will have more choices in areas of what I would call ‘personal programming.’ Imagine, if you will, being able to connect to your personal radio station somewhere via your Internet connection from your car, home, office, or laptop ... then upload your personal choices of songs for everyone everywhere to enjoy. You literally become a program director for that station without checking into the office. That’s cool.”
