As we approach the holidays, I find that lots of people begin to look at the past year in retrospect. Afterall, the end of the year is the one time most of us set goals for ourselves via New Year’s Resolutions. I mean who has not made some of the following ones:
* Lose weight
* Get out of debt and save more
* Spend more time with family
* Enjoy life more
The only thing is that, too often, the only time we look at these are at the end of the year. Once life starts again after the holidays, we get caught up. I hear people say…”Well, I’ve got to pay the bills.”….”I need to see who wins Dancing with the Stars”….you get the point. They are caught up in simply making a living and not properly designing a life.
If you have been reading this blog, you have seem me write of this before. I guess I keep coming back to it because it is such a personal issue for me. I did not realize how much time I truly wasted pursuing things that were not that important to me until I went through the Financial Life Planning
I can’t emphasize enough the importance of the goal planning process.
* Be 100% clear about your goals
* Understand why the goals are important to you
* Take consistent action towards attaining them
* Evaluate whether your actions are working and revise where necessary
Do not get caught up. Create your life and your legacy.
