Tree Farms Grow Receivables, Too

It is always fun to talk about new business. We recently signed up a new client company in a business you may not think of as factoring, a tree farm. They are great folks, down to earth and honest. They came referred to us by one of our other tree farm clients. There is nothing like referrals from existing clients! We did not set out to be tree farm factoring specialists, but we sure enjoy being outstanding in our field!

All kidding aside, in our business it is always about… Continue

Start Up Companies Grow with American Prudential

American Prudential recently signed up a new client who is new in many ways. In business for less than 18 months, this client has done everything possible to get his business off and running. And after a year they have exhausted all of their available capital.

The equipment is all purchased, the staff is hired and trained and the orders are getting filled. Unfortunately, without additional capital only low margin orders can be filled because the larger deals require more materials… Continue

The Self-Sustaining Business Model

When an entrepreneur sets out to start a new business the main focus is usually the product or service to be provided. After all that is where our passion lies. As entrepreneurs, we believe in our products and services. We believe essentially in our ability to make a difference; to make things better.

Eventually, however, the focus turns to money. To make things better is going to take money. The old adage that, “it takes money to make money,” is usually true. The question is, “whose… Continue

Financial Market on Everyone's mind -- The fix is in OUR hands

Today the congress who continues to vote themselves pay raises and tax benefits has decided that partisan politics is more important than solving this problem.

The first question is "Can the government solve this problem?" The second question is "Should the government solve this problem?"

First some background: small banks have growing margins and while they are holding off from extending credit to companies, there is no need to make a run on deposits there. They are safe.… Continue

The LinkedIn tool "Recommendations" is the best kept social networking secret

Who doesn't like to have something nice said about them? I love it when someone takes the time to write a recommendation or referral and they say surprisingly wonderful things about me and our company.

In the spirit of this site's theme of "give and it will be given to you..." or servant leadership or pay it forward mindset, you should take the time to learn how to recommend someone on LinkedIn.

Do you have a linked in profile? Then all you have to do is click this link… Continue

Have you generated revenue for your company using social networking sites?

I have been helping those open to my help get prepared to generate revenue from sites like LinkedIn. I have generated over 5 million in new monthly revenue for our small private funding firm via LinkedIn alone.

For those who want to meet me so I can help them, I do this pro bono to give to my network.

If you'd like help, please let's get together. I am normally in NW Houston.

What good are 500+ connections?

What good are 500+ connections?

I tried to figure out last night how long I have been on LinkedIn. I was not successful but I know it is North of 2 years, probably closer to 3. I wanted to figure that out because I have come so far since I first got involved in online networking and social media.

Like many, I was introduced to LinkedIn by a colleague, while I was in transition. I quickly saw the power and value of this tool. Almost as quickly I saw the… Continue

Make the decision to be a giver every day

You may say to yourself, "I don't have anything to give. You don't know my situation. How could someone like me give anything?" But, I am here to tell you THAT is the secret: "Give even when you don't see how you could."

I am not necessarily talking about money, but consideration, encouragement, time, a listening ear, empathy, advice, and a smile all go a LONG way.

You should blog

This continuation of my series on blogging on social network sites covers some of the benefits of blogging on social networking sites and especially here at inhouston.ning.com.

If you avoid the mistakes I mentioned in the last post, you should definitely take advantage of any opportunity to blog.

Essentially, blogging is being allowed to have your own syndicated column. In a newspaper column, you wouldn't put sales copy, but instead you would write about things that are on… Continue

Today, updates, clarity

Today,

I met with an InHouston member Ragan Hill.

Raegan and I had a great meeting.

During our discussions, she shared with me something very interesting. She told me that the theme of the InHouston.ning.com site is clearly my desire to help others succeed in networking and marketing. I am glad she said that. I believe she is right.

Mistakes to avoid while blogging on social networking sites

Like Newton, we need to stand on the shoulders of those who came before us. Many social networking sites allow you to blog. What is a blog? What is blogging? What should you blog? What shouldn't you blog?

Blog is short for web log. But, it really just means a site that is easy to update with articles you write. This article you are reading is one of my "blogs" or articles on my blog on this site InHouston.ning.com.

You can blog about… Continue
