How To Market Yourself Like God

When we begin reading the word of God what we see and hear first is an introduction. When you are anticipating building relationships, it would help to know some simple steps on introduction; let's take a look at How God marketed Himself.

In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth..Gen. 1

Point #1. You have to begin, others will not know who you are until you begin. You may have to say to yourself "It's a privelege for anyone to know me" and use that as… Continue

Stranded Freight and Bad Ribs

A few months ago, I bought a rack of baby-back ribs from a local grocer. The very next day I cut in to that plastic package as I was practically drooling at the thought of bbq’d ribs. Much to my dismay, this horrid smell of spoiled meat came flooding over me and my desire for bbq’d ribs quickly turned to a desire to keep my breakfast down. As I sat and waited for my appetite to come back to me, I started thinking of how this type of thing happens. What I realized is that I was probably not the… Continue

I Ride in memory of my Dad

September 19th I'm going to do something I've never done before. I'm going to ride my bike 64 miles in one day as part of the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure. This is a huge step for me since I've never gone even half that distance before. But participating in this ride is important to me, I am riding in memory of my dad which battled diabetes for many years before his passing and I will be a RED Rider. (Red Riders are the riders riding in the Tour de Cure who are living with… Continue

What is a "JOB"?

This week at JMS I explored the origin of the word “job”. I was not happy with what I found. The most consistent references point to a French root word “gobbet”. This translates into morsel or “piece”. Hence a “job” is a “piece” of work. It struck me that it also suggests a piece of our life.

So if we start with a “piece” (job), that doesn’t sound very fulfilling. For most people, the job never is. But then I started thinking about a progression. Ok, you get past a “job” and land a… Continue

Are You A Nurturing Networker?

Are You a Nurturing Networker?

What exactly is a nurturing networker, and why does being one matter?

If you are in business you probably think of networking as a necessary part of marketing. You find some groups of other business people, you go to their events, and you talk about your business. Your focus is primarily on you, your needs, your sales. If you can help someone else without too much effort, you probably will, but mostly you are trying to encourage others to… Continue

The only reason to have a resume is to get an interview!!!

I think that for candidates to get more interest in their resume, they have to consider reviewing the content and lay out.

Remember, with the increased unemployment figures, a job seeker has to stand out from the rest. Tailor your resume and cover letter for specific job opportunities. Get away from the "shot gun" approach to job searching. Avoid at all costs emailing the same resume to many different types of job postings hoping to get a response.

Remember also, the only… Continue

What Is The Value Of People?

fiddling-around

Garry Smalley is a well respected person in the field of marriage relationship development. As one of his demonstrations, he crumpled up a $50 bill and threw it on the floor. He then asked if anyone wanted the crumpled up bill. Of course people still wanted it. Why? Because even though the $50 bill was dirty, wadded up and thrown on the floor, it still held value. If I handed you a Stradivarius violin and told you it was worth $1.2 million,… Continue

Houston's Office Sublease Market

There is no question that in recent months, I see a new office sublease listing come across my email almost daily. The good news is Houston has much less sublease inventory than other major markets such as New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles, which only speaks volumes to the fact the Bayou City has not felt the brunt of the recession like other major U.S market. So how much do we have?….and where is it located?

Currently the Houston Office Market has just over five (5) million… Continue
