The different methods of preserving flowers follow the same basic principle, to remove moisture slowly while maintaining as much of the original shape and texture as possible.
Air Drying Flowers
Begin air drying your flowers by hanging them upside down in a dark, dry and warm place. Drying flowers may take one to three weeks to complete. Dried flowers can be used to create your own potpourri by gently removing dried petals and adding a few drops of scented oils. Or create your… Continue

It's amazing how we let ourselves focus on our own spheres and don't really stop to think of what we have done to help someone else? In the last 24 hrs did you ever stop to think about helping someone?
I have been waking up early, exercising, and then boom! WORK! WORK! WORK! Mind you it's especially hard for me to stop working since I love what I do. I always wished there was more time in one day. It's always GO!GO!GO!, and I have failed to really stop to think about what really… Continue

I was so grateful to have the opportunity to provide the name tags for the event last night at The Tasting Room. Upon Olcay Kaplan's recommendation, based on the last event, I printed 230 tags (close to 200 were used last month). We used those logo’ed tags plus at least 30 additional. What a success! I met many more people, caught up with some previous contacts and made 4 solid connects that could potentially generate additional business for my company. This really has me looking forward with… Continue

The Canine Chronicles
Body Language: Read, Know, Observe, Adapt, Communicate, Dominate.
by Peter A. Wood
Just how does a dog always seem to know how to piss you off? Simple . . . body language. When you think, I want to go left
, even before you turn, your body projects that thought through certain leanings, eye movements and hand gestures. Even if you think your move was unannounced, it was previously broadcasted to the world of those who… Continue

- Face-to-face 1on1s are important
I know professionals, highly placed individuals, and experts who don't want to "waste" time with 1on1s and networking. This is a mistake. Every single person down to the last I know who is successful makes time for 1on1 conversations and networking. I have wealthy friends who have guests into their offices daily and make time to meet them and network. The time you need an…

For some social networking is a new term that holds the same interest as a root
canal, but isn't 10% as clearly defined. For others, they have dabbled in
social networking but haven't found value. Others have braved the deep in
social networking and still haven't found the value. And for 10% out
there, the have discovered the secrets to generating revenue and growing a huge
active network on-line and off-line.
I have grown a large off-line and on-line network… Continue

It was nine o’clock on Christmas Eve and I was waiting for the kids to drift off to sleep so Santa could visit, when my phone rang. It was a reporter.
“Is it true they’re going to evacuate Bridgeport?” he asked. The North Texas city was the location of my company’s largest single moneymaking asset, a natural gas processing plant.
“I beg your pardon?”
“Your gas plant is on fire and the rumor is, they’re going to evacuate the entire city,” the reporter… Continue

In case you have the desire to go beyond LinkedIn to network but not so far as MySpace & Facebook, here is another opportunity in the form of a micro-blog….twitter.
Eric Standlee mentioned a good source in his post "Don't get Twitter?" (http://inhouston.ning.com/profiles/blogs/dont-get-twitter), but here are some other good references to help become familiar with twitter.
Here’s a link to an excellent video “Twitter in Plain English” by Lee LeFever at Common Craft… Continue

Jobs Minsitry Southwest (JMS) is an independent, non-denominational organization dedicated to helping people in all phases of their career. JMS has been operating since August. We have had over 200 job seekers come through our meetings. Plus we have hosted over 1200 man hours of training and… Continue
