I think that for candidates to get more interest in their resume, they have to consider reviewing the content and lay out.
Remember, with the increased unemployment figures, a job seeker has to stand out from the rest. Tailor your resume and cover letter for specific job opportunities. Get away from the "shot gun" approach to job searching. Avoid at all costs emailing the same resume to many different types of job postings hoping to get a response.

I hope someone can help me, please.
My niece is coming to Houton in about 10 days time and is hoping to find summer work. She has just completed her 2nd year at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC) studying an Honours Degree in Interior Architecture.
She is a smart young lady and will do anything including office administration. She worked for the last 2 summers for Government Departments in Dublin and came away with very good references.

Never ever refer to yourself in the third person. I already dislike you :-). That gets under my skin and as Joan Rivers said about an ego "if he went into a bar, he would pick himself up"!!!! “Geoff is an exceptional project manager. Geoff has been quoted in many publications and has been invited to speak at energy conferences all over the world. Geoff is awesome" Why on earth would anyone want to read this resume let alone hire this ego!!!

I’m a recruiter who looks at many resumes each day. Here are some of my pet hates:
1. First impressions usually last – therefore use an email address that has a connection with your name. Forget the “sopretty1” or the “jean xxxx” email. There are so many places to get a free email address – get one!!
2. If the job ad asks for your resume in Word format, don’t try to be smart and send a PDF. And don’t send a .zip file – I’m going to delete it as I consider it to be a… Continue
