Exciting Houston-area attractions include the Downtown Aquarium, the Houston Arboretum, Six Flags AstroWorld, Space Center Houston, and the Armand Bayou Nature Center. As might be expected in a city of this size, shopping opportunities in Houston are outstanding. Popular shopping areas include the Galleria, Rice Village, Highland Village, and the Old Town Spring Shopping Village. For a day of pampering, several spas are located throughout the city. There are numerous theaters in Houston, and the town also has its ballet, symphony, and opera companies.

The Memorial neighborhood in Houston has become one of the premier areas in Bayou City. Memorial properties range into the multi-millions with sprawling 20,000+ sq ft homes. Each community has its mayor and police department. All four upscale communities are supported by the Spring Branch Independent School District and dedicated to outstanding academic achievement.

  • Hedwig Village is dedicated to single-family homes and has a limited commercial zone with banks, grocery stores, and other retail shops that provide consumers with everyday necessities.
  • Hunters Creek Village has both single-family and townhomes available and also has a limited commerce zone.
  • Piney Point Village is primarily residential, made up exclusively of single-family homes.

Many Memorial homes have been built after the 1960s, including several modern designs and spacious square footage. Memorial Village Guide

Found a few minutes west of Downtown Houston,  Memorial Villages is a neighborhood of six independent villages: Bunker Hill, Hedwig, Hillshire, Hunter Creek, Piney Point, and Spring Valley Village.

The six independent villages of Memorial Villages are known for their small-town vibe. Bunker Hill, Hedwig, Hillshire, Hunter Creek, Piney Point, and Spring Valley Village all feature traditional-style homes (colonial homes built as far back as 1969), contemporary-style homes (with their minimalist architecture), and country-style homes sprawled across expansive estates.

Memorial Villages: School Zoning Information

Bunker Hill Village

Spring Branch Independent School District serves Bunker Hill Village. Two elementary schools, Bunker Hill Elementary School and Frostwood Elementary School, are located in the city limits.

Hedwig Village

The Spring Branch Independent School District serves Hedwig Village. All Hedwig Village students go to Spring Branch Middle School and Memorial High School, found within the Village. Other nearby private schools include The Kinkaid School (Piney Point Village), The Monarch School (one campus in Houston and one campus in Hillshire Village; moving to a new Houston campus in 2008), and The Parish School.

Hunters Creek Village

Most of Hunters Creek Village lies north of the Buffalo Bayou, a Houston area served by the Spring Branch Independent School District. Students in Hunters Creek go to Spring Branch Middle School and Memorial High School, which are in nearby Hedwig Village. The Houston Independent School District serves the area south of Buffalo Bayou. HISD students attend Briargrove Elementary School, Grady Middle School, and Lee High School (students may attend Lamar High School or Westside High School instead).

Piney Point Village

Most of Piney Point Village is north of the Buffalo Bayou and served by Spring Branch Independent School District. Memorial Drive Elementary School is within the Piney Point Village boundaries. Memorial Drive students in SBISD attend Spring Branch Middle School and Memorial High School, located within Hedwig Village.

The Houston Independent School District serves the portion south of Buffalo Bayou. HISD students are zoned to Emerson Elementary School, Revere Middle School, and Lee High School (students may attend Lamar High School or Westside High School instead.)

The Kinkaid School, a private K-12 school, is also located in Piney Point Village. St. Cecilia School, a K-8 Roman Catholic private school operated by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, is situated near Hedwig Village.

Spring Valley Village

The Spring Branch Independent School District serves Spring Valley. Spring Valley is zoned to Valley Oaks Elementary School in Houston, Spring Branch Middle School in Hedwig Village, and Memorial High School in Hedwig Village.

Memorial Houston, Texas Real Estate

The real estate offerings of Memorial are diverse, with housing prices ranging from $400,000 – $7 million. Single-family detached homes in Piney Point Village range in price from approximately $800,000 to $4 million. Hunters Creek has nearly 100 subdivisions, and most lots are at least a half-acre in size. Well-established property in this area sells between $1 million and $2 million. Memorial’s condominiums and townhouses built in the 1970s and 1980s are available starting from the low $100,000s. Larger, more modern units in the Houstonian Estates area can be found for more than $1 million. Prices start at $400,000 for comfortable homes built in the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s. There are several construction styles to choose from: English, traditional, contemporary, and modern, to name a few. Many are within walking distance of a park or trail. Private wooded estate properties are available for up to $7 million. Land and lots for custom buildings are also available for purchase.
