JOB OPPORTUNITY: Senior Staff Analyst - City of Houston Finance, Performance Management Division
The City of Houston has recently formed a new Performance Management and Internal Consulting Division in its Finance Department and is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Analyst to help lead in its development.
The division is charged with analysis and implementation of projects that will increase revenues, reduce expenditures, and improve operations and public service. The staff will develop a methodology for prioritizing projects in the departments, will partner with departmental organizations to develop and implement recommendations, and will create dashboards with performance measures in order to track progress. Over time the project dashboards will feed into a larger performance management scorecard used by the Mayor, CFO, and other senior city leadership.
Initially, the division is leading the creation of a centralized Revenues, Accounts Receivables and Collections division, with new Citywide policies and IT systems integration surrounding departmental revenue streams. The division will tackle this project in partnership with a management consulting firm that is currently engaged
Functional skills relevant to the position will include: creativity, quick thinking, comfortable with numbers, and great people/soft skills. More specifically... process mapping and re-engineering, IT systems implementations, financial and performance data analysis, strategic planning, etc.
